Okay class, how are you doing with the vocabulary packet? The words included in that packet are found in the first 11 chapters of the novel. Many of these words will be new to you so it is important that you make the right connections and study your packet. Reflection on the Research Paper and Gallery Walk

How would you rate this project in terms of difficulty? What was the hardest part? What was the easiest? What did you enjoy the most? Why? What did you learn about your topic, the process of writing a research paper, presenting to others, etc.? What did you think about the projects of others? Give them some feedback both constructive and otherwise - respectfully. Sign you first and last name at the end of your entry as some of us don't know your email user names.

To Kill A Mockingbird novel request

Next week we will begin reading To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee. As I only have one class set of books, I am asking that students purchase a copy, sign out a copy at the local library, or borrow a copy from someone you know. This would be a great help to managing our reading outside of class.

To Kill A Mockingbird is a classic novel published in 1960. Set in a small southern town during the Great Depression, it is a story of the human condition. It teaches lessons that one should never forget and reminds us to walk in the shoes of others before we judge them. As we become part of the story, we realize that while we are all different people, our character is what shapes us - it is what counts. Here are some great websites to check out as a supplement to the novel:

What is a bildungsroman?

Hmmm.... strange word. What do you think it is? Where might you find the answer? Post your comments, guesses, ideas, and links to the correct answer here!

Need to improve your vocabulary? Check out this site!

Mrs. Vick let me know about this fun and charitable site where you can practice your vocabulary while donating rice to underdeveloped countries. Check it out - it is addicting!!
