Next week we will begin reading To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee. As I only have one class set of books, I am asking that students purchase a copy, sign out a copy at the local library, or borrow a copy from someone you know. This would be a great help to managing our reading outside of class.
To Kill A Mockingbird is a classic novel published in 1960. Set in a small southern town during the Great Depression, it is a story of the human condition. It teaches lessons that one should never forget and reminds us to walk in the shoes of others before we judge them. As we become part of the story, we realize that while we are all different people, our character is what shapes us - it is what counts. Here are some great websites to check out as a supplement to the novel:

Cool Classroom is a place where students can post their thoughts about the minutes, hours, days, weeks,or years they've spent in public education - even more specifically, the hours spent in our class! It is a place for reflection without negative criticism. Let's get thinking!
